Phone Answering System

Which Phone Answering System Will Work Best For Your Home Or Office?

Choosing a phone answering system can become a little confusing today as the choices have grown with the expansion of technology. Everyone has their own way of setting up their phones and they choose what works best for them. Some people prefer just a home phone with an old fashioned answering machine. This works well. They can check messages when they get home and even sometimes call into it. They can screen calls to see who is calling before they pick up. This is not the common set up today however, this is thanks to our world which has slowly become more and more dependent on cell phones.

The cell phone is now a very large part of most people's telephone answering systems. People often have home numbers forwarded to cell phones so they never miss a call. Interactive voice response (IVR) is a system often used by utility companies where the caller is asked to speak his request. The system recognizes the spoken words and asks the caller to confirm before directing the call to the proper department. Small businesses will have forwarding set through an IVR so calls always go to who ever they need to get to. Incoming calls are directed by the customer choosing who they need or what they need. Then many times the call will go to a cell phone and that person can be literally anywhere.

Larger companies still usually have traditional landline telephone systems with a secretary taking calls during the day and then the automated phone answering service will  handle calls after hours. Unfortunately, because of cost, that just doesn't work for smaller businesses or homes. This is why we have so many options for telephone answering systems. Another great part of this is the voicemail system. Many people rely on voicemail to never miss messages. Voicemail can be taken by an internet phone answering system which works very well for people who have VoIP (voice over internet protocol) phone services and even landline companies are starting to go this route.

Regardless of what you choose for your phone answering system in your home or business, it will be what works for you. No one business or home is the same. It is all about preference. Thanks to the age we live in full of technology you have more options than you will ever need or want. One thing is for sure, you'll never miss a call again unless by choice.
